Valpo Parks Baseball Programs

T-Ball & Coach Pitch: A fun intro to baseball for young athletes.
Youth Baseball  Leagues: Community-based play that builds skills and teamwork.
Senior Babe Ruth 18U Baseball : Designed for upper high school athletes, this league includes 20 games against top rec/mid-rec teams from Lake and Porter Counties. Some travel is required, but it’s a great chance to compete, grow, and showcase your skills.

Challenger:  Adaptive program for athletes ages 5–22 with physical or intellectual challenges

Right Approach Performance – Baseball

Right Approach Performance in Valparaiso offers baseball training designed to improve hitting, throwing, and overall athletic performance. Indoor batting cages, pitching machines, and advanced tools like the Rapsodo Hitting Launch Monitor give players the edge they need to succeed on the field.

Batting Cages at The Courts

The Courts in Valparaiso offers three indoor batting/pitching cages for baseball and softball. Cages are available for rent with adjustable pitching machines. Players must bring their own helmet and bat; baseballs and softballs are provided.

Pricing: $20 per half-hour per cage | $30 per hour per cage

Open Gym sessions are also available for $15 per person. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Ball rental is $3. Hours vary, so call ahead for the current schedule.

Baseball at Portage Parks

 Portage Parks offers recreational spring and fall baseball leagues for ages 4–16. Players develop skills, practice teamwork, and enjoy a fun in-house league setting. The fall 2025 season runs August 23 through October 11, with games played on Saturdays and practices held on weeknights, scheduled by volunteer coaches. Teams from the spring season can register together, and divisions may be merged if numbers are low.

Valparaiso Americans (Cal Ripken)

Valparaiso Americans is a Cal Ripken-baseball league serving all of Porter County, Indiana. They offer recreational and competitive baseball for age groups from T-Ball through 14U, with both local games and traveling/spring-league opportunities.

Valparaiso YMCA Basketball

The Valparaiso Family YMCA offers youth basketball programs for ages 3 through 6th grade (co-ed), plus a mini-session for ages 7-12. These focus on fundamentals like dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense, all in a fun, supportive environment. League play runs seasonally; check the YMCA Youth Sports page for upcoming dates.

Held outdoors at Tower Park, this summer basketball camp gives young athletes four exciting nights of scrimmages and skill-building. Based in Cedar Lake, Region Basketball Club is focused on player development on and off the court. The program emphasizes accountability, integrity, and perseverance in every aspect of training.

Region Rebels Basketball is a premier travel basketball program in Valparaiso for youth and high school boys and girls. Steel Wheels Indoor BMX in Hobart offers year-round indoor BMX track facilities for riders of all skill levels. Riders sharpen bike handling, speed, agility, and racing technique in a safe, climate-controlled setting while building confidence and having fun. Right Approach, located in Valparaiso, offers junior golf programs for ages 7–18, with options for elementary, middle school, and high school players. Franciscan Health Fitness Centers in Chesterton offers group swim lessons for ages 6 months through adult. Programs are designed to help swimmers of all ages build water safety skills, confidence, and technique in a supportive environment. Lessons are taught by certified instructors and available year-round.

Little Vikes Swim Academy

The Little Vikes Swim Club is a summer program hosted by Valparaiso Community Schools for children entering grades K–8. The program is designed to introduce young swimmers to competitive swimming in a fun and encouraging environment. Participants learn stroke technique, build endurance, and gain experience in a team setting, with practices held at Valpo High School’s Aquatic Center.

The Valparaiso Swim Club is a year-round, non-profit USA Swimming age-group program for athletes ages 5–18 who meet basic swim skill requirements. VSC develops swimmers of all levels, from novice athletes to those competing at state and championship meets. The club focuses on building strong technique, endurance, and a lifelong love of swimming.

Portage Parks offers a Fall Women’s Volleyball League for players 18+. The season includes two matches per night plus a double-elimination tournament. Referees keep score, make calls, and manage game time.

Portage Parks offers a spring adult softball league with divisions for all levels of play. Teams can choose from Co-Ed, Men’s Lower Level, or Men’s Intermediate Level divisions. Registration runs January 6 through April 21, with games beginning Monday, May 5. The cost is $400 per team, plus a $15 pay-at-the-plate fee per team, per game.

Golf Instruction With Nancy Bender

Nancy Bender offers private lessons and group clinics for adult golfers at Creekside Golf Course in Valparaiso. Each one-on-one lesson uses the V-1 video system to analyze and correct your swing, followed by a custom action plan with drills you can take home. Adults can join clinics designed to strengthen specific areas of the game. For those training on a simulator, Nancy provides professional instruction to make practice sessions more effective and results-driven.

Perpetual Motion offers Core Power, a speed, strength, and agility training program for athletes of all ages. Elite Gymnastics offers Mom & Tot classes for children ages 18 months to 3 years. This introductory program helps little ones develop socialization, coordination, and sequencing skills while learning basic gymnastics movements on the vault, bars, beam, and floor. Parents or caregivers participate alongside their child in a supportive, fun environment. Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes.
